Noise-Protection Earmuffs — U.S. Workwear Brand

Background
A U.S. outdoor workwear brand needed hearing-protection earmuffs for logging professionals. The technical challenge: the design combined passive acoustic insulation with an ANC chip sourced from a domestic Chinese supplier — a hybrid build that most trading companies could not even quote correctly.

What I did

  • Searched, shortlisted and audited factories with in-house electronics assembly capability — not just soft-goods sewing lines
  • Coordinated multiple sample rounds to balance three competing targets: noise-reduction performance, wearing comfort, and clean ANC chip integration
  • Negotiated specifications, BOM breakdown and unit pricing, including the interface between the acoustic-shell supplier and the chip-module supplier
  • Followed the order through production, on-site inspection and export logistics to final delivery

Result

  • Full quantity delivered on schedule, with pre-shipment inspection passed before dispatch
  • Unit pricing negotiated below the client’s initial benchmark quotes
  • The hybrid ANC design passed client acceptance without rework

A small order with a hard problem. This is the kind of sourcing where knowing what factories can actually do — not what their listings say — decides the outcome.

Tempered Glass Screen Protectors — European Retail Brand

Background
A retail brand in Europe needed a stable long-term supply of tempered glass screen protectors across successive iPhone model cycles. Their core problem was not price — it was trust. They needed a partner in Shenzhen who could verify factories, lock quality, and keep them informed without flying to China every month.

What I did

  • Vetted and managed OEM factories: business-licence, contract and bank-account consistency checks before any deposit was paid
  • Locked negotiated prices in writing and monitored that quoted specifications did not quietly change between orders
  • Ran pre-shipment inspection with AQL sampling on every batch, with photo-based reporting the client could act on the same day
  • Booked air freight and prepared export documentation for each cycle

Result

  • Continuous monthly supply at a scale of roughly 100,000 pcs per year
  • Repeat orders on nearly every new iPhone launch
  • No payment disputes with factories during the cooperation, because licences, contracts and bank accounts were checked upfront
  • Every shipment cleared customs on complete, consistent documentation

Anyone can place one order. The value shows in the third, fourth and fifth reorders — when the client never has to think about whether the goods will be right.

Multi-Year Supply Programme — U.S. E-commerce Seller & European Retail Supplier

Background
For six years I ran the China side of the supply chain for a U.S.-owned e-commerce company — an Amazon seller that also supplied retail stores in Europe. Their categories were 3C accessories: earphones, phone cases, chargers, cables and screen protectors. Annual volume ran at roughly 100,000 units, with purchasing value of about RMB 7 million a year, spread across dozens of suppliers in Guangdong.

What I did

  • Built and maintained the supplier base: sourcing new factories per category, auditing capability, and replacing suppliers that could not hold quality or lead time
  • Ran price and MOQ negotiation on every SKU, against a fixed specification so quotes stayed comparable
  • Followed OEM production order by order, with in-line checks and pre-shipment inspection before anything left the factory
  • Coordinated China-side logistics — export documentation, consolidation and booking — for shipments to U.S. fulfilment centres and European retail distribution
  • Kept specifications, samples and approved revisions on file, so repeat orders were produced to the same standard as the first

Result

  • Six years of continuous supply across a multi-category 3C range, at around 100,000 units and RMB 7 million in purchasing value per year
  • Supplier base repeatedly vetted and pruned — factories were kept on performance, not on habit
  • Every shipment documented and inspected before dispatch, year after year

Six years on the buyer’s side of the table is where the judgement comes from. JIATAI exists because most buyers never get to see what their supplier is actually doing — and I have spent that whole time on the other end of that gap.
